Risk or reward – Why I write erotica

Risk or reward – Why I write erotica

I love writing but over the last few months I have been struggling to get anything started, even though ideas for further erotica are swimming around in my head. When the ideas hit they play out perfectly in my mind but then, as soon as I sit in front of the PC, my mind goes blank and I think I have finally figured out why and it comes down to one simple question, why do I write erotica? Do I just write it just to entertain others? Do I write it because fiction lets me live out fantasies on the page that I will, more than likely, never realize in the real world or do I write it for financial gain?

Do I just write to entertain others?

Yes I do however that wasn't the case when I first started writing erotica. That was because I was in an awful marriage, with a woman that I later found out spent most of the time away from the family home cheating on me and erotica was just an escape from reality.
Short stories I wrote I eventually started to post to a free read website and it was only when people began to comment that I realized that I might not be too bad at this whole writing business. More comments led to more, longer, stories and eventually Penny Peterssen noticed Star Search, convinced me to submit it to Gina Kincade and Naughty Nights Press and J S Morbius was born.

Do I write it because fiction lets me live out fantasies on the page that I will, more than likely, never realize in the real world?

Up to a point the answer to this is also yes. Everyone has fantasies and I am no different but just how far I would go I haven't got a clue. I have never been in a situation where anything, in either of my genres, could have happened but that's not to say that it wouldn't have if the chance had arose.
Some of the most beautiful women I have ever seen are transsexual and the fact that they have a cock doesn't turn me off in the slightest and yes, if I was single and the chance did present itself, I could lick, suck and fuck a transsexual woman quite happily just as I could another male.

Do I write it for financial gain?

No is the simple answer to this and before anyone questions me let me explain my reasoning.
I know I am not the greatest author in the world, and I also know that I never will be. Yes I would be honoured to have a best selling novel sitting at the top of the book charts, raking in a fortune, any author would and if they say otherwise they are lying.
However my chosen genres are never going to hit those sort of heights so why do I continue to write in them? The answer is simple. Transsexual, as well as male/male, erotica allows me to live out my fantasies and also bring to the world that transsexuals/gays/lesbians and bisexuals are just like everyone else. They too want health, happiness, love, respect and to be treated equally and if my fiction stops just ONE person looking at GLBT people as anything other than equals I will have made a difference, no matter how small.

So there you go I'm done once again, don't forget you can find me on Facebook, Twitter or The Crypt of Morbius but for now I will leave you all with this simple message.

Take risks, instead of seeing everything as nothing more than a series of pound/dollar/euro symbols, and the rewards will come.

Three lucky readers who leaves a comment will also win a copy of my newest male/male romance For the love of Leon.

Taking My Mind Off Writing - By Baking

One way I like to relax between writing books is to bake, especially this time of year. Fall calls for anything pumpkin. Pumpkin cookies. Pumpkin ice cream. Pumpkin pie. Pumpkin bread. Pumpkin you-name-it. I like to have a few slices of pumpkin bread while I pound out a good story. Nothing relaxes me quite as much as baking, except maybe a good horror movie - something else appropriate for this time of year. Halloween is right around the corner, so it's time to get out my "Halloween" movie snow globe and my "Scream" snow globe, my haunted house candle holder, autumn wall hangings, autumn dishtowels, and Halloween socks. When it's time to take a much-needed break from writing, one thing I like to do is bake.

What do you like to do when you take a break from writing?

All this talk of pumpkin goodies is making me hungry. How about you?

And now, I give you two fantastic pumpkin recipes. Happy fall and Halloween!

Pumpkin Bread Recipe

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 cups (210g) flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 cup (200 g) sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup (1/4 L) pumpkin purée
1/2 cup (1 dL) olive oil
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 cup (1 dL) chopped walnuts

METHOD

1 Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Sift together the flour, salt, sugar, and baking soda.

2 Mix the pumpkin, oil, eggs, 1/4 cup of water, and spices together, then combine with the dry ingredients, but do not mix too thoroughly. Stir in the nuts.

3 Pour into a well-buttered 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Bake 50-60 minutes until a thin skewer poked in the very center of the loaf comes out clean. Turn out of the pan and let cool on a rack.

Makes one loaf. Can easily double the recipe.

What can you do when you feel utterly unable to help?

That's pretty much what I immediately thought when I heard about Shane Willis' death. He was young. He was talented. It could well have been any of us. My husband is 43 the same age as he was - and we celebrated our First Wedding Anniversary yesterday. To say that his death affected me quite strongly on a number of levels is an understatement. Death is one of those things that leaves you at a loss to understand why it happened. You immediately reflect on the 'What if's?' and 'What now's?' of the matter, imagining your close family, panicking about their health and safety. In my case, I get a little paranoid - checking my will - wondering what would happen if I was the one who departed from the world, would my family be ok, how would they cope, and then of course you get a moment of clarity.

What can I do to help those suffering?

I only knew Shane through his art - the way he brought my characters to life on the covers of my six e-published and paperback books - and I have a further, final cover that he'd designed before his death; for Nylon Dreams - the book I am currently working on. If I ever had a reason to finish that book before, it is certainly superseded now, by the desire to get yet more of his artwork out into the world. His legacy.

Again though, what else could I do? And this was where my publishers came to the fore. A silent auction where we could donate our books to raise money to give to his family - a little something to show support, anything to help, in any way we could. It feels such a hopeless thing, trying to do something when you know the only real thing that could heal the pain is to have him back with them. So, it's this that I'm asking you to consider now. We've all donated our books, our art - to help a family in pain. I ask, that if you can help, even a little - drop a bid on our books, you might find yourself winning a number of books for a lot less than their cover price, and all of your bid goes to Shane's family. If you need a little further incentive, for lot 1, which is my Tess Series - whomever wins this - whatever price it goes for, I shall send a paperback copy of Menage a Tess with a personal note to you. That's four ebooks, and a paperback.

Please do think about placing a bid - the auction ends tomorrow, and at time of writing, there are still no bids for lots as low as $1 for groups of four books.

Silent Auction In Honor of Shane Willis

Shane, you will be dearly missed - but never forgotten.

The Sausage Machine

The Sausage Machine

Okay, you must be thinking I've gone a little bit crazy talking about sausages when I'm supposed to be a writer and maybe I am one sandwich short of a picnic. Yet who wants to be normal anyway? Normal is boring. Anyway I digress, back to the sausages.

I once attended a talk given by Richard Wilkins. He used to be a businessman who lost everything and nearly gave up. But he turned himself around and started up Ministry of Inspiration He bounded onto the stage wearing a pink shirt and a yellow jacket which immediately got everyone's attention plus a few laughs. He played up to this, saying “You never get a second chance to make a first impression, and you are all smiling.” He spoke of life, garlic and sausage machines. At the time, the reality didn't really sink in, but it's true if you think about it.

Poor Naomi, she really has lost the plot, you're thinking. Hang on a minute though and I'll explain.

We are writers, new and experienced alike, but all working to improve our art. So imagine that the writer owns a sausage machine. We also have cupboards full of ingredients just waiting to be used in a good recipe for a story.

Once the basis for a story is borne the outline or sausage skin is attached to the machine. And as more ideas, characters and situations for the story are added, the fatter the sausage will be. (Rather appropriate a phrase with our style of writing, don't you think?) Remember, you only put garlic in, you only get garlic out, and the cupboards will never run out of ingredients, it's just a case of finding the right balance for your particular sausage. Every so often run a sausage off, taste it and you'll soon realize what's missing from your recipe. And when you think you're totally stuck, take a step back from the machine and rummage through your cupboards. There might be an ingredient you'd forgotten about.

After all, you're a writer and every writer has a sausage machine!

The spirit of the dance

Goodbye to another weekend and another party. I just love an excuse to put on something pretty and clingy and hit that dance floor!
I have always loved to dance, I mean really loved it. I just can’t help myself, providing the music is good of course. Many a friend has told me that when I am on the dance floor I’m not really dancing with anyone, I get lost in the music and forget my surroundings. It’s a wonderful feeling to ride the beat and just let go. I am one of those people who dances with the whole of my body, my arms move out to the sides and my hair gets shaken while my head looks one way and then the other. I honestly believe that dancing is one of the most fun things you can do with your clothes on.
I have often been known to pester DJ’s who just don’t seem to get how important the right song is!
With this in mind it’s probably not surprising that I use dance in many of my stories. It’s sexy, sensual and can be an exquisite opportunity to seduce.
‘Pleasing Mia’ is set in a night club and this is paramount to the story:

Excerpt:

They all noticed her; everyone in the club was watching her. She was with two other girls, each capable of turning heads in their own right. They were dancing around in their little group, twisting and turning to the rhythmic beat but you could see that Mia was lost in her own world, dancing with wild abandonment as if she were all alone in her bedroom. Scott, along with his friends, was instantly attracted to her.
She was just so beautiful. Her messy blonde hair was swinging outwards as she danced, coming back to land on naked tanned shoulders in unruly strands that filled Scott with an urge to stroke them tenderly away.
Her stunning face bore full lips that formed a most inviting pout, coupled with wide eyes that closed when she spun around shaking her arms above her head. Her figure was slender but still allowed the soft curve of her hips to smooth outwards along with her high, round breasts which displayed an inviting cleavage beneath the thin confines of a strappy white dress.
Mia was an obvious beauty, but it wasn’t just her stunning looks that were causing the stir in the trousers of just about all the male guests in the room. It was her wildness, the raw sexuality that was displayed through her dancing. That complete abandonment that made them all wonder if she would be as uninhibited between the sheets.

Then there’s the art of exotic dancing, taking things a little further with striptease, lap dancing and the sleekness of a pole.

Excerpt ‘A Private Dance’ from ‘Dancing for the Boys’:

There were around eight men seated as far as she could see but Tanya was in the zone, closing her mind to all of them, feeling the beat through her body and eyeing the pole as if it were a lover.
She recognised the song, dirty and explicit just how she felt right now. ‘Play’ by David Banner filled the small room. So he wants to play, she grinned. I will show him what he can expect if he ever decides to play with me. She took hold of the pole pulling herself towards it and sliding herself down the long shiny chrome. Then she turned around and pulled herself back up again facing her audience. With slow deliberation and feeling the music through every fibre of her being Tanya slid down in a bum slide until she was stretched out, legs wide apart with her arms stroking the pole behind her. There were a few mumbles of delight from the men seated so close to her she could see the beads of perspiration already forming on their foreheads.
Tanya made her way back up the pole gripping it firmly with her legs and gazing up towards the top. She hung downwards gripping it below her head, one leg wrapped around it and the other straight outwards, then she twisted her body again and swung out to a superman, spinning around in all her glory. The sharp intakes of breath told her they liked what they saw. Tanya pulled herself to chopsticks, a deliciously stretched position that showed the tightness of the Lycra across her outlined sex. With one leg raised she held one ankle leaving the other to hook and cling to the pole. The track changed and with a wry smile she changed her rhythm to match ‘Lick’ by Joi. It was so hot, so dirty and so very fitting. Tanya caressed the pole; she teased it twisting her body around every part of its shiny length. To her the audience was no longer there, it was just Tanya and the pole in perfect harmony.

Oh yes, I love to dance, don’t you?

Until next time,

Gemma

With You All The Way, John Quinlan!

NNP and its writers wish to send out our strength, love and support to John Quinlan, aptly named "The Most Tattooed Male Romance Cover Model in The World", as he competes in the NPC Brooklyn Grand Prix in the Men’s Physique Open & Master’s class this weekend.

A recent virus almost debilitated our friend, stealing his strength and making us all fear he wouldn't be able to make the event, but, through the grace of his faith and the support of his friends and family, he fought and won against that nasty illness just in time to make this competition

We at NNP want to wish him the best of luck and regardless if he wins or not, we all know he shall do his best and that’s what matters most!

John is one of the most true and genuine big-hearted men this writer has had the pleasure to encounter, and I am thrilled to say that soon enough John’s amazing face...and body...shall grace some of the Naughty Nights Press romance novel covers.

Friends and family, join us as we shower our friend with our support and let him know we are all rooting for him from around the globe. Please share this post!

To Shave or Not to Shave

Greetings readers! This is another post by the wicked gal about facial hair. Hmm… Ya know, the head Shar, used to be a fan of men with no facial hair at all. I know it started with seeing the group Duran Duran and carried on from there, falling in love with men who didn’t want any stubble or fuzz on their face or otherwise. But now Shar is married to a man with plenty of that on his face and uh other places. *waggles eyebrows* Ahem, I digress. TMI. What was the change Shar?

Sharita interjects: Aren’t I allowed to change my mind?

Sure you are Shar, but I wonder about what some women say about men who don’t shave all the time. They keep it trim or not. Does a beard make a man look more manly?

I’ve noticed when we post pics on our FB page which has become the new place to share gorgeous pic of models, we’ll get comments saying, “Oh he’s not manly looking enough. Too pretty.” In most cases, those men have no hair anywhere but on their heads.

Like this one, who I’m a big fan of. He looks the part of a rocker. *licks lips* He’d probably be considered too pretty or not manly enough for some women or gay men but not for me.

Over the years, men have become more concerned about their appearance. Just look at the models. From the overly androgynous Andrej Pejic to the hunk supermodel David Gandy, who just happens to sport a beard, the fashion world now cares just as much about its male models as it does their females. They have a certain look, some of them pretty faced, some not and the majority of them are clean faced, no body hair. What’s wrong with this? Nothing. It’s all good to me.

In my opinion, it depends on how you wear it. Does it look good on you? If you’re not shaving does it look un-kept? Hopefully no birds have made a nest there! *Random Homer Simpson reference* If you are shaving or waxing, *grins* does it work for you? Are you concerned how “femme” it makes you look? In some people’s eyes, men who shave or wax are more metrosexual and or female than their hairy counterparts. If this doesn’t bother you, do what you want! I don’t care either way to be honest. Men are hot, period. Beard or not, hairy or not, doesn’t matter to me. If it adds to your overall smexiness bring it on.

To me, it doesn’t make you more manly with a beard, or less without. How do you sport that look? Are you looking as if you just crawled out the trash? Hopefully not. Whatever makes you comfortable with yourself, it’s all good. I believe it’s almost like the debate about women and their weight. Not the same context but the same stupid stereotypes that people jump on. The fatter you are, you’re considered sloppy or unattractive. How do you carry that weight? And if you are skinny, I hope you’re not anorexic. That’s not healthy.

People need to get over their perceptions and realize beauty is more than skin deep. The personality is part of that overall appearance too. The beard is just a small part of visual appearance. You’re no less manly if you choose to wax and shave your body or facial hair and not more manly if you don’t.

What’s the end result? Are you happy with how you look? In the end, that’s the only opinion that matters!

So do what you want! Shave! Wax! Ooh and if you do, can I watch? *licks lips* Better yet, can I help ya. If you don’t, I’ll help you take care of that.

Men shaved or not are just sexy, period
